About Mohammed Abba Isa

Mohammed Abba Isa
Mohammed Abba Isa’s path to national public service began in disability advocacy in Yobe, where he served as the first chairman of the state chapter of JONAPWD. Appointed Senior Special Assistant to the President on Disability Matters on 9 November 2023, his portfolio was later described as Special Needs and Equal Opportunities.
He holds honours and master’s degrees in Public Administration from the University of Maiduguri, completing his master’s in 2017. In July 2024, he supported inclusive teacher education at a public hearing for the proposed Federal College of Education (Special), Dukku.
Through his office, he has helped connect participants with disabilities to SMEDAN business-skills training and startup support. His engagement with FHA Mortgage Bank also brought attention to livelihood opportunities, including the stall-allotment ceremony reported in May 2025, where the bank handed over allocation documents.

A national mandate for inclusion
His presidential appointment placed disability inclusion across government at the centre of his remit. The State House asked him to bring the needs and perspectives of persons with disabilities into federal policies and programmes, working with state authorities and the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities. This gives his advocacy a role in how public institutions plan for access and opportunity.

His office’s work with the Nigeria Women Economic Development Project (NigWED) connected disability inclusion with menstrual health and practical skills. In a July 2024 report from Karon-majigi, Abuja, the office described training women with disabilities to produce reusable sanitary pads. Isa’s address linked the initiative to dignity, access and enterprise. The account documents a training partnership; it does not establish participants’ later earnings or employment.

Access to learning and better information
His education advocacy has emphasised teachers equipped to support learners with disabilities. Alongside this, he has spoken about the need to understand the people public programmes are meant to serve. In his May 2025 interview with TheCable, he described work with stakeholders towards a centralised disability database and consultations with disabled people’s organisations. These were reported efforts and priorities, rather than evidence of a completed database or universal access.

Jerry Zachary Bannister
07061674831jzbannister@atbu.edu.ngI’m Jerry Zachary Bannister, a statistician, data scientist and researcher in Statistics at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. I work as a Statistician in the university’s Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance and run JJMB Datascience Hub, supporting researchers, organisations and businesses with data analysis and software.
My work in statistics, machine learning and AI aims to create practical tools that solve pressing local problems and make complex information easier to use.
As a wheelchair user, I believe AI can help disabled people live with greater independence, understand information, communicate, learn and access opportunities. My goal is to build accessible, affordable tools shaped by disabled people’s needs and choices, giving them more control over their everyday lives.
For this project, I used Python and scikit-learn to highlight distinctive words with TF-IDF and find recurring themes with NMF.
